약뇨병
약뇨병은 약을 구하기 어려웠던 옛날, 민간요법의 한 방법으로 사용된 약뇨를 만드는 항아리이다.
병의 구멍을 솔잎으로 막고 목 부분을 줄로 매달아 뒷간에 놓으면 약 한 달 정도 지나 솔잎을 통과한 소변이 약으로 쓸 수 있는 새로운 물질로 변한다.
염증 완화와 해열 효과가 있는 솔잎과 옹기의 정화작용이 결합되어 약뇨가 만들어졌다. 주로 5세 이하 남자아이의 소변을 사용하였다.
Yaknyo-byeong (Medicinal Urine Jar)
The yaknyo jar is a vessel used to produce medicinal urine (yaknyo), a form of traditional folk remedy employed in times when access to medicine was limited.
To prepare it, the opening of the jar was sealed with pine needles, and the neck was tied with a string and suspended in an outdoor toilet.
After approximately one month, urine that had passed through the pine needles was believed to transform into a substance suitable for medicinal use.
This process was understood as a combination of the anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing properties attributed to pine needles and the purifying qualities of onggi. Typically, urine from boys under the age of five was used.
