조선시대 궐내 잡무를 담당하던 내시부에서 쓰였던 것으로 추정되는 화분이다. 양 쪽에 고리형 손잡이와 하단에는 세개의 다리가 있다. 항아리 상단부에 새겨진 당초문이 고졸한 멋을 자아낸다. 

* 본 유물은 경기도 가평군 설악면에 조선시대 내시가 은퇴하고 모여 살던 곳에서 입수하였음.

유물의 형태나 문양으로 보았을때 일반 가정에서 쓰였던 것은 아니며 궁의 격에 어울림에 따라 그 이유로 내시부에서 쓰였던 화로로 추정함. 

Royal Flowerpot

This vessel is presumed to be a brazier used by the Naesibu (the eunuch office responsible for miscellaneous duties within the royal palace) during the Joseon Dynasty. It features ring-shaped handles on both sides and three legs at the base.

The arabesque (dangcho) pattern engraved on the upper portion of the body conveys a refined yet rustic elegance.

This artifact was acquired in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, an area where retired palace eunuchs are known to have settled during the Joseon period

 Based on its form and decorative motifs, it is unlikely to have been used in an ordinary household. Rather, its style and quality suggest that it was suitable for palace use, leading to the interpretation that it was a brazier employed by the Naesibu.
